The International Geographical Union (IGU) is an international, non-governmental, professional organization devoted to the development of the discipline of Geography.
The purposes of the IGU are primarily to promote Geography through initiating and coordinating geographical research and teaching in all countries of the world.
Relationship with OSGeo
Established common purpose to bridge geopgraphy community with the open source geospatial community, promote open geo-data, promote open source for GIS and Remote Sensing, work with GeoForAll to promote openess in education and research, and hold a joint workshop.
