Biography

Luiza Marques Santos is a Data Engineer at StormGeo, where she designs and maintains data pipelines supporting global weather and energy forecasting. She has extensive experience in Python and SQL, and enjoys using open-source tools to solve complex data and geospatial challenges.

Luiza is pursuing a master’s degree focused on graph-based scheduling optimization, modeling scheduling as a selective list coloring problem that connects graph theory, optimization, and learning. Her work explores how machine learning can enhance classical combinatorial problems through graph representations.

She presented at FOSS4G 2024 on “Uber’s Open Source H3 Index in Open Source Projects: Simplifying Distance Calculation and Data Storage,” sharing insights on scalable spatial indexing and open data workflows.

Outside of work, Luiza is an avid rock climber and jiujitsu practitioner, who values creativity, discipline, and continuous learning—both in the outdoors and in engineering.
