Matthias is a software engineer with more than ten
years of experience, focusing on geospatial cloud technologies, open standards and open data. After studying Geoinformatics at the University of Münster, he worked there on interoperable cloud-native APIs in the Earth Observation domain. He is the lead author of the openEO API and process specifications and chairs the openEO Project Steering Committee. He is also a core contributor to the SpatioTemporal Asset Catalog (STAC) specification and chair of the STAC Project Steering Committee. Building on the STAC principles, he authored most parts of the Vecorel and fiboa specifications for field boundary and agricultural data.
Matthias is the director of moreGeo GmbH, a company dedicated to building geospatial ecosystems through open standards, open source software and consulting. Most of the software he has written throughout his career has been Open Source.
