Biography

I first got into the OSGeo world by using QGIS, teaching others, and getting involved in local communities in the UK. FOSS4G 2013 in Nottingham was a turning point for me, where I saw the power of open source for not only solving geographic data problems, but also tackling real world issues such as climate change. I am on a mission to build data and digital literacy and evidence-based decision making around some of the world's biggest problems, particularly climate change, the decarbonisation of the transport sector and active travel. On my OSGeo journey I have helped develop some popular teaching materials including the free and open source book Geocomputation with R and, more recently, the odjitter Rust crate and R package (presented at FOSS4G 2022).
