Biography
Federica Gaspari carried out her studies at Politecnico di Milano in Italy, where she obtained a BSc in 2017 and a MSc in 2020 in Environmental and Land Planning Engineering. In May 2026 she obtained her PhD cum laude in Geomatics and Geoinformatics. Currently, she’s a postdoctoral Research Fellow at Politecnico di Milano – Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (DICA). Her research activities are mainly focused on the development and implementation of procedures for the management of 3D geo-referenced information flows with open-source tools. Her research interests include GIS, photogrammetry, web-mapping and collaborative mapping.
Since 2016 Federica is active in the OpenStreetMap community, serving as faculty advisor of PoliMappers, being member of the cOSMopolIT diversity and inclusion group and contributing to the initiatives of the Italian community by collaborating with Wikimedia Italia. In 2020 she joined the State of the Map working group and helped organising SotM 2021 online, 2018 in Milano and 2022 in Firenze. She was a member of the FOSS4G 2022 Local Committee, contributing to the organisation as the co-chair of the social media committee. In 2026, she became president of the ISPRS STEP officer board, the official representation of the students, young professionals and the youth to ISPRS.
