My Mission

I work as professor and researcher at the Research Center on Informatics in the Central University of Las Villas, Cuba. I research the topic of: Methods and tools for the visual analysis of huge data volumes. Scientific Visualization and Geographic Information Systems. I am an enthusiast of Open Geospatial Technologies working in particular with gvSIG, QGIS, GRASS, GeoServer, PostGIS and R in my position as professor in the Research Center on Informatics (Universidad Central "Marta Abreu" de Las Villas). I have make strong efforts in promoting the use of open tools in my country, Cuba, as I did it outside my country, especially in Spain and Ecuador.

Biography

Studies: Bachelor in Computer Science , 2006. Master in Computer Science, 2008. 3th Cycle Docent period in Iberoamerican of Soft Computing PhD Program University of Granada, Spain, 2009. Advanced Diploma in Soft computing PhD. University of Granada, Spain, 2010. VIII Expert Course in GIS, UNIA, Spain, 2012. PhD Computer Science, University of Granada, Spain, 2015.

  • Provincial Annual Award of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba. 2011. Tools and techniques for scientific visualization into GIS.
  • Expert in geographic information systems, awarded by the International University of Andalusia. 2012.
  • Provincial Annual Award of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba. 2013. Integration of data visualization techniques in geographic information systems.
  • 2014 National Award “Gustavo Furrazola Bermudez”. Awarded by the Cuban Society of Geology outstanding young research in the geosciences.
  • Winner of the 1st International Cathedra Competition of gvSIG in the doctoral category thesis or research paper. New methods for processing and analysis of geographic information.
