Biography

Ragi began his career over a decade ago as a software engineer at ESRI, where he worked on the Geodatabase team. As an engineer at Microsoft, he worked on the main GIS data pipeline of Microsoft Flight Simulator. He ran a GIS consulting company in the Bay Area where he helped organizations like NVIDIA and CSR with their mapping challenges. As his interest in startup entrepreneurship increased, he co-founded the venture-backed fashion startup ModeWalk (acquired by Moda Operandi) and as CTO built the e-commerce technology from the ground up. Ragi is currently the CEO and co-founder of the venture-backed AmigoCloud (a Stanford StartX Company and Code for America Company) that sells two SaaS mapping products: AmigoCollect (mobile data collection) and AmigoPlatform (GIS PaaS). In addition to founding the GeoMeetup, the largest developer-centric geospatial Meetup in the world, Ragi is also involved in Open Source GIS Software (he is an OSGeo Charter member and a founding member of OSGeo-California). He loves to contribute code to open source geospatial projects like GDAL and TileStache. As a peruvian, he is actively involved in spreading the usage of open source software in the peruvian government as well as other latin-american countries.
