GeoForAll greetings to Applied Geoinformatics for Society and Environment 2018  in Namibia

The Applied Geoinformatics for Society and Environment 2018 conference will take place November 12 – 16, 2018, at Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), Windhoek, Namibia. There will be a pre-conference workshop about OGC Web Services and Interoperability Standards on 8th -9th Nov 2018.

The Applied Geoinformatics for Society and Environment (AGSE) series of conferences and summer workshops  was initiated in 2009 by Professor Franz-Josef Behr. Taking place on a yearly basis, the conference is being hold in different places all over the world. The overall scope of this conferences is to offer an interdisciplinary, international forum for sharing knowledge about the science and application of Geoinformatics with focus on developing countries. Besides invited keynotes the conference invites presentations to a variety of topics. There will as well professional training and workshops about current topics in the fields of Geoinformatics and Photogrammetry. AGSE 2018 is incorporated into the DAAD supported alumni work of the University of Applied Sciences Stuttgart, Germany . Therefore, participants from different countries worldwide contribute with experiences from their home countries.

Franz-Josef also established the first Open Source Geospatial Lab in Germany at the Stuttgart Universityof Applied Sciences [1]. He is a true visionary and we are very grateful for his contributions to GeoForAll.

It is excellent that the Applied Geoinformatics for Society and Environment 2018 is held in Africa. Requesting all colleagues to work for reducing the digital divide and enable opportunities for everyone to benefit from digital economy opportunities [2] [3].
