Arnulf Christl

Biography

Arnulf Christl is a Geospatial Systems Architect, founding and Charter Member of OSGeo. Arnulf served on the Board of Directors from 2006 to 2012, was elected OSGeo president in 2008 and transitioned to President Emeritus in 2012. Arnulf is the Sol Katz awardee of 2013. Arnulf Christl works in the spatial domain since the mid 1990s. He founded his first business CCGIS in 1998 which he later merged with two other companies to form the WhereGroup. Arnulf co-founded the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo) to professionalize the emerging Open Source geospatial business ecology. For almost two decades Arnulf contributed to the standards processes and committees of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) where he also served on the Architecture Board. He contributed to the European INSPIRE process, provides consultancy for international SDI projects and also works as Project Reviewer for the European Commission. Since 2010 Arnulf Christl and offers consulting, agile project management, change and innovation management in the geospatial domain under his label Metaspatial.
