OSGeo Logo: Usage, History, and Downloads
Logo Usage
These are the official logos for the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo). Please respect our trademark guidelines when using these logos.
In addition, we have established a Branding Guide (PDF - 540KB), which provides guidelines for logo usage, colours, and typeface to ensure that we have a consistent visual identity.
Logo History
The OSGeo logo was created as part of a contest shortly after the formation of the foundation. As part of the contest, we received many great submissions and held a vote to determine the winner.
Aaron Koning's submission came out on top. The initial submission was subsequently altered to allow for easier printing, but the initial clear design concept remains.
Logo Downloads
The OSGeo logos are available in several different formats, colour models, and versions
File Formats
The OSGeo logos are offered in several different file formats:
- JPG - Low quality raster image, no transparency
- PNG - Medium quality raster image suitable for web layout and presentations
- TIF - High quality, high resolution raster format, suitable for inclusion in word publishing applications. Due to size constraints, these are only available in the download package.
- EPS - Encapsulated PostScript high quality vector format suitable for press
- PSD - Alternate high quality raster format (Adobe Photoshop)
Colour Models
In addition, two colour models are available in the EPS and TIF file formats (except the grayscale versions):
- CMYK - Four colour process model
- PMS - Spot colour Pantone (PMS 362/375) ink model.
Versions
Each representation of the OSGeo logo is available in two versions, with and without the tagline "Your Open Source Compass". The choice between these versions is entirely at your discretion.
All of the OSGeo logos are available for download, either individually (except for the TIF files) or as part of one big zipfile. If a format appears under the image but is not linked, you will need to download the zipfile package to retreive it. Enjoy!
